The 9 Celebrities You Didn’t Know Had Wineries

Excuse me while I go do some fangirl wine shopping...

Wine has always been a chic way for the rich and famous to flaunt their wealth. After all, there’s nothing else that spells money and class more than wine. It is trendy, it’s fashionable, and when you have your name to leverage as advertising, wine is also extremely profitable. This is probably why so many VIPs have invested in the wine industry over the decades. From rock stars, to movie makers, to race car drivers, to football players, celebrities are attracted to wine making like moths to a flame, like ants to sugar, like hobbits to mushrooms *cough*.

Curious yet? I bet you are! The list of wine-producing celebrities stretches easily beyond 100. However, below, I’ve listed 9 high-profile celebrities that I’m pretty sure you didn’t know owned wineries.
*hover over the images of the bottles to see their names

Stephen Amell – Nocking Point Wines

Stephen AmellIf you don’t know who this guy is, you better start brushing up on your Netflix, my friend. Stephen Amell is most known for playing Oliver Queen aka. the Arrow. In 2012, he established Nocking Point Wines in Walla Walla, Washington in partnership with his friend, Andrew Harding. The winery lies within the Columbia Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area). Not only is Nocking Point very smartly named, but it also rocks some of the most amazing wine labels currently in the market.

To top it all off, Amell and Harding are currently working on a wine show with the self-evident name, Dudes Being Dudes in Wine Country. As I’m a huge fan of The Wine Show, I honestly can’t wait for it to be released…

Antonio Banderas – Anta Bodegas

Antonio BanderasNow, I’m pretty sure you know this guy! The Spanish actor realized his dream of becoming a wine producer back in 1999. He started building his winery in the heart of the D.O. Ribera de Duero in Spain, with vineyards stretching over 230 hectares. His winery produces wines of high quality and aims to help make the Ribera del Duero appellation become a landmark in the global wine scene.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie – Château Miraval

Brad Pitt & Angelina JolieLove may have died after Brad and Angie broke up, but their wine sure is thriving! Back in 2012, the couple bought a winemaking estate in Provence, France, the very same estate that they got married in 2 years later. Château Miraval is famed for so many more reasons, though. Prior to being purchased by the celebrities ex-couple, its previous owner, French jazz pianist Jacques Loussier, installed a recording studio in it, where Sting, the Cranberries, and even Pin Floyd recorded famous tracks.

Now, Château Miraval is most known for producing world class wines, whites under the Coteaux Varois appellation and red, white, and rosés under the Côtes de Provence appellation, The Guide Hachette des Vins even named it one of France’s top wine producers. The château consists of 400 hectares of which 30 hectares are devoted to vines.

Drew Barrymore – Barrymore Wines

Drew BarrymoreDrew Barrymore’s love for wine – along with the huge capital she possesses, no doubt – encouraged her to become a wine-producer. She wanted the chance to share her wine with her family and friends and – when you’re as famous as her – the world. As such, she partnered up with Carmel Road, a family owned winery in Italy with deep roots in California, and produced a line of wines, Barrymore Wines. Being a fan of fresh, crisp, and fruity wines, Drew opted to produce wines with a lively and light character: Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Noir Rosé.

Fergie – Ferguson Crest

FergieRemember her? Fergie and her father, Pat Ferguson, founded the boutique winery, Ferguson Crest, in Santa Ynez Valley, California in 2006. The 6 acre estate is devoted to producing top-quality varietals, from Viognier to Syrah. That’s not all, the celebrity and her father are focused on producing handcrafted wines that follow organic and sustainable practices.

John Legend – LVE Wines

Citi Presents Exclusive John Legend Concert For Citi ThankYou Cardmembers At The Emerson Theatre In Los Angeles Benefitting Teach For America“I believe wine and music bring us closer together,” are the words of singer and songwriter John Legend, who started his wine label LVE in 2015. LVE stands for Legend Vineyard Exclusive, a brand created in partnership with Napa-based Raymond Vineyards, which belongs to Boisset Collection. For those who are curious, Boisset is a company with wineries in Napa Valley and in France. It’s also the biggest wine producer in Burgundy and the third largest in France. Obviously, Legend only does business with other humble legends of the world.

Dave Mustaine – Mustaine Vineyards

Dave MustaineIf you’re reading my blog and you know who this is then we’re probably friends. If we’re not, then we should be . Dave Scott Mustaine is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Most of you will know him as the original lead guitarist for Metallica, and the co-founder, guitarist, songwriter, and lead singer for the metal band Megadeth. Mustaine’s talents extend beyond music, as well. He is the author of a book, had several TV acting appearances, holds black belts in taekwondo and Ukidokan karate, and owns his own winery in Fallbrook, California. Wow, that’s a long list!

Sting – Tenuta il Palagio

StingI love Sting. Don’t you love Sting? I mean, who doesn’t love Sting! In 1999, Sting and his wife, actress and director Trudie Styler, came across Il Palagio, it was in a really bad state. The estate had always been farmed since the 1700s, and so the couple set about the task of restoring the house and its lands to their former glory. Now, not only does Il Palagio produce wine, but also oil, honey, and an array of products farmed and made on the estate and in its nearby lands.
While I haven’t tried Il Palagio, there’s one thing I know for sure: if these vintages age as fine as Sting does, we’re surely in for some epic wines!

Jarno Trulli – Castorani

Jarno TrulliJarno Trulli was an Italian Formula One driver from 1997 to 2011, driving for brands including Renault, Toyota, and Lotus. In 1999, Trulli and a group of his friends bought a vineyard in Alanno, Italy. Castorani Villa dates all the way back to 1793. Today, Trulli and his partners personally supervise the wine production at Castorani Villa: from cultivating the grapes all the way to promoting the products.

Andrés Iniesta – Bodega Iniesta

FBL-EUR-C1-JUVENTUS-BARCELONAMost of you football fans probably know this guy: Andrés Iniesta, Spanish professional football player, who’s currently the captain for Barcelona. Iniesta also owns a winery along with his family in Fuentealbilla, Spain. Bodega Iniesta is found in the D.O. Manchuela, and produces unique wines that express the characteristics and varieties of this Spanish appellation.
